BIRCH CREEK MOTORSPORTS PARK
Website: www.birchcreekmotorsports.com 6224 Kentuck Rd | Ringgold, VA 24586TRACK DESCRIPTION: Another SX-MX hybrid, Birch Creek’s surface is loamier than any of the previous tracks. Located in somewhat of a valley the track boasts a high-speed start stretch with a left hand turn at the end of it. One more turn and you’re going up the first of many short up hills, this one in particular is a launch of sorts, and eventually takes you back down to a tricky off camber and tabletop. Shoot down hill and you’ll approach another tabletop and straightaway under a spectator catwalk. Turn left over yet another small tabletop and set up for the first step up, land go right and there’s a step down triple followed by a deep whoop section, turn right and start catching gears for a high speed rhythm section made up of big doubles. Wind around and back up hill and you’ll find yet another tabletop followed by the last of the doubles, One more jump and you’re headed towards the tunnel (which you’ll go through). After passing the finish line, you’ll have an opportunity to try your hand at what most consider the biggest jump in the GNC series, a gigantic uphill triple is the last obstacle you’ll encounter before moving on to lap two. Plenty of passing opportunities and the chance to test yourself against the big triple will keep you coming back.

BUDDS CREEK
Website: www.buddscreek.com 27963 Budd’s Creek Rd. | Mechanicsville, MD 20659TRACK DESCRIPTION: Budd’s Creek is another pure MX track, natural terrain obstacles, off camber turns, and huge up and down hills. Right off the bat you’ll understand exactly what we mean by “Pure MX”, as the short start stretch ends with a high-speed downhill plunge. As you take the first left you head up one of the most famous hills in MX history “Henry Hill” (named after Doug Henry’s ill fated launch off the top in the nineties). Once safely down the other side you’ll approach the second in a series of uphill, downhill, off camber configurations. Promoter Jonathon Beasley reverses the track direction each year, so it’s pointless to give you a turn by turn description, but the track is comprised primarily of tabletops with the exception of a couple of step ups and two doubles. The soil here is absolutely perfect. Budd’s Creek is not only one of the most technically challenging tracks in the series; it’s also one of the most scenic.
DRIVING DIRECTIONS: Option 1 from the North; turn left on Maryland Highway 5 South out of Waldorf, MD. Continue straight on Highway 5 for 16 miles to Maryland Highway 236. Turn right on to 236 for 6 miles until it ends at Maryland Highway 234. Turn right on to 234 and the track is 1/8th of a mile on the left. Please use caution for Amish carriages on 236.
Option 2 from the North, using U.S. Highway 301; turn left onto Maryland Highway 6 at LaPlata. Travel 8 miles to Trinity Church Road, turn right and travel 6 miles to the end of the road at Maryland Highway 234. Turn left and travel 1 mile, the track will be on the right. This is the least used and fastest way to get to highway 301 after the race.
From Points South, follow I-95, 30 miles North of Richmond to Route 207; turn right, this becomes U.S. Highway 301. Travel North 5 miles into Maryland, and turn right on Maryland Highway 234. The track is 10 miles on the right.

Amish country is beautiful and right around the corner from the track, take the time to check it out, but be weary of the Amish carts while driving
ECHECONNE OFF-ROAD PARK
Phone: (478) 935-3206 5070 Marshall Mill Rd | Lizella, GA 31052TRACK DESCRIPTION: Located in the deep South, and widely recognized as a track that separates the men from the boys, Echeconnee WILL beat you. Comprised entirely of a sand-clay mixture, which turns the entire track into a whoop section. Echeconnee will test not only your will and determination, but your machines’ as well. Pray for an early moto at this one, the track gets rougher minute by minute, yet Mark Barnett and Donny Banks somehow manage to provide a safe and fun track year after year. The concrete starting pad is intimidating, but once the two-minute card comes out you’ll forget all about it. As the gate drops, you’ll enter a long dogleg start stretch, which veers left before turning Right. Here you’ll encounter the first of many bowl turns followed by a downhill whoop section. Another deep bowl will greet you at the bottom of the hill and send you up towards the first triple and rhythm section. Did I mention that Echeconnee is a hybrid SX-MX style track? Upon exiting you’ll find yourself at the entrance of a downhill hairpin turn with a formidable double at the end of it. Hang a right, rocket down the straightaway towards another bowl turn and big rhythm section (The promoters change it every year, so I’ll skip a description), a couple of tight turns, an off camber and a couple of straight-aways later you’ll find yourself hitting the last big triple. Two doubles, a right-hander and you’re over the finish line and approaching a high speed, high banked bowl turn around the spectators. One more whoop section and its time for lap two. Racers love Echeconnee for its width and passing options.

GLEN HELEN RACEWAY
Website: www.glenhelen.com 18585 Veredmont Ranch Rd | San Bernardino, CA 92407TRACK DESCRIPTION: Glen Helen is what you can describe as a purist’s Motocross track, a 5th gear start stretch sends you rocketing towards the Talladega bowl turn, as the racers spread out you will soon find yourself at the elevator jump which launches you up “Shoei Hill” (the smallest of the three monster up hills) upon reaching the top you will make a hard right turn and launch down only to be greeted by the steepest of the three hills “Mt. St. Helen” which boasts an elevation of 2020 feet. As you approach the summit, a quick right turn sends you towards an equally impressive downhill. A few turns later you’re on your way back uphill, this time its “Yamaha Hill” (elevation 2060’), back down you’ll go as you reach the 130’ tabletop. A few, bowl turns, coupled with long wide-open straights, step-ups and tabletops later, and you’ve just completed your first lap. There are no Supercross style obstacles, just pure Motocross. The track surface is slick and hard packed, anything not packed down tends to get very marbley.

GATORBACK CYCLE PARK
Website: www.unlimitedsportsmx.com 20525 N.W. 46th Ave. | Alachua, Fla. 32615TRACK DESCRIPTION: The Gatorback track is another good example of pure MX, located in a lime pit with a healthy dose of sand mixed in, the surface is unlike anything else you’ll find on the GNC circuit. The start sends you careening into a lime pit, but not for long as you’ll be launched out the other side and towards the first of many tabletops, after negotiating a couple of hairpin turns and safe doubles, you’ll hit a big left handed sweeper. Upon exiting the sweeper you’ll hit a safe ski jump followed by a small double and a right hand turn that aims you towards the face of the infamous “Elevator” jump, a huge step up with a long history of breaking hearts (among other things). A few more turns, a couple of nice big tabletops in front of the stands, another downhill and you’ve just completed your first lap.

LORETTA LYNN’S (DIRT DAYS)
Website: www.racerproductions.com 44 Hurricane Mills Rd. | Hurricane Mills, TN 37078TRACK DESCRIPTION: Love it or hate it, Loretta Lynn’s is the most well known track in the series and usually boasts the largest number of entries. The fact that the track is only used three times a year (Youth Amateur Nationals, Dirt Days, & the GNCC) ads to the nostalgia of the event. During the other 49 weeks of the year the track is used as a horse pasture and sees no motorized action. The hard packed dirt surface lends itself to breaking bumps and the tree roots on the start stretch have caught more than one racer off guard. The Loretta’s start is probably the second longest (next to Glen Helen) and fastest in the series. Upon surviving the left handed hairpin first turn you’ll enjoy a short straightaway before turning into the “Ten Commandments” section (a treacherous set of 10 deep whoops), a quick right will aim you towards the “Suzuki Double” before stringing you over a mound and in between two trees, The following rhythm section is comprised of 4-6 jumps which can be strung together in different combinations. You’ll enjoy a short break from the jumps as you weave through the S turns, but it wont last long, the following section has a series of big roller jumps that can be doubled through, followed by a healthy tabletop. A tight right hand turn aims you at the camel hump, but you’ll encounter another double before receiving another break from another set of S-turns. A ski jump will funnel you towards the high-speed sweeper turn, a couple of turns and a rhythm section are the only things between you and the finish line. One more deep whoop section and a drag race around the Loretta Lynn’s billboard and you’re ready for another lap.

Once you’ve exited the various turns and their slight elevation changes, you’ll head straight towards the “Monza Wall”, a huge uphill bowl turn directly in front of the bleachers.
